So I'm currently watching my girlfriend and her sister play Halo via webcam, and making the occasional remark via speaker phone, as well as listening to their occasional remarks. All this from half a country away. Technology is wonderful.

For those (like me) who are eagerly awaiting Starcraft 2, be wary.
I just got an email asking reciepents to visit www.starcraft2.pro, asking for suggestions and other such stuff (and saying that release date of end of may '09 was close). Contain your excitement, and note that the official site by Blizzard is www.Starcraft2.com.
It would seem that some...jerks...are trying to take advantage of the anticipation. As you can see above, this displeases me!

So I'm looking to see if the one on-line "book" that I follow has been updated today, and I find out something interesting. Apparently the Sci-fi channel was looking to do a mini-series or something, since Battlestar Galatica is over, and the author here was contacted about doing something with her story and world. I'm filled with VERY mixed feelings, as I've over all enjoyed the story. And I think we all (or nearly all) know Sci-fi's track record with movies, mini-series, etc. (not good, at all, for those who don't know). As I debated with myself about whether I wanted to risk watching it, I suddenly realized something. There is no way they aren't going to butcher the character of Two (the most awesome freed golem ever, near as I can tell). Therefore, I don't think I can afford to watch. Because that would make me really, really sad.
Also, here's a link (to the latest update, anyway). I'm now doing my part, by author's (general) request, to promote the story so maybe some of you will see it, and possibly even donate money. It's pretty much text only (like a book), updated several times a week generally. There is quite a bit of sexual tension (I suspect the main character might be part succubus or something), fyi. Also, there are abuse elements, transgender elements, racism (as in races, not just skin color), and other such "hot topics". Over all, I will say I've really enjoyed the story though.

So I'm playing Wild Arms 3. Its a good game overall so far. It has a decent story (if somewhat predictable character personality cliches)(note that I'm only 4 hours or so into it, on a PS2 game). The battle system isn't too bad, but what I really enjoy is that while the battles are indeed turn based, everyone is moving around while actions are taking place. So you'll see all your party members mixing it up with the enemies and stuff. Its all automated, and has no effect on actually battle numbers as far as I can tell, but its a pretty nifty twist instead of everyone standing in a line trading bullets (or claws, swords, etc). There's another really nice twist, in that if you have force levels built up (you get points as you make physical attacks, take damage, or evade an attack), you can spend one to have the character who is about to take their action actually stop, so you can reassign the action in the middle of the battle turn. Also, you can decide the order that your characters act in, which can fix the "I really need the healer to go AFTER this one attacker, but the healer is so much faster...", or you can just go ahead and have them act according to their speed. Just like Wild Arms 2, however, nearly no locations are visible on the overworld map. You have to walk around using this search system (hit a button, and you search a small area around you) in order to find new towns, ruins, train stations, etc. Even worse, the locations apparently aren't even placed on the world map until you've heard about them and gotten some sort of direction on which way to go. That's my biggest issue. I think I dislike FF8's junctioning system a little more, but its a close call.
Now, the real reason for this post: a situation that happened recently. I'm dungeon crawling, and in this particular dungeon are 3 groups of Drifters (read: adventurers). There's myself, a previously met group of badguys, and a group that has just turned up that's led by this rather annoying blonde chick.
The blonde has been mouthing off when we meet in the dungeon, and undoing switches and stuff (so now I have to go flip them again to re-open the door, etc.)(this is, of course, a sort of puzzle). And finally, I get to trash her and her party. So the bad-mouthing stops, battle starts, and I see her party is named "Blonde", "Timid Boy", "Afro Man" (Afro Guy? Something like that), ands "Cat(?)". Yes, "Cat(?)", with the (?). Afro Guy gets targeting priority when he reveals that he can cause status effects (confusion), then back to Cat(?) (who looks like a small cat walking on two legs, with a white bandanna thing over his mouth) who is using moves like "Burning Breath" and "Freezing Breath". Then Timid Boy, with his Homemade Bombs of 10-15 damage (single target)(HELP! NOT 10-15 DAMAGE!), and finally Blonde (because I was fairly sure if I "killed" her, the battle ended). I start wailing on Blonde, and after a couple of rounds of soaking damage, she does something...disturbing. For those of you who don't know, the Wild Arms series of games all have a western flavor to them. In the first one, for example, one character's headgear armor included things like "10 gallon hat". The ladies tend to wear dresses like from a western, etc. Well, Blonde leans forward slightly, arms near her sides with elbows bent some, and this gatling gun drops out of the bottom of her dress. I don't know if she gave birth to, or otherwise emitted it, or if the dress was just a Dress of Holding. I really, really hope it was just a magic dress though.
The best part was that she introduced herself afterwards (of course). Maya Schrodinger. They were the Schrodinger family. Now, some of you may still be cringing, and not realize the significance. Go back and read who her party members included. For those who are still unaware, look up Schrodinger and his cat. I was like "YES! THIS GAME IS AWESOME!" when I saw what that party of adventurers, excuse me, Drifters, was named.

So I mention to Lady-O that a pair of friends of mine are getting married. Then she tells me that a sister of this pair commented (my lady does facebook, something I do not do) that she wanted nieces and nephews asap. I suddenly realize just who I'd be bringing to the table in that department, if/when I have children. Now THERE'S a thought that might make me stay awake a little longer than normal at night. >.>
And on another note, Congratumalations again, you pair!

What with all the celebration I am seeing (sort of a bunch, anyway), I am going to laugh SO hard if Obama somehow drives this country into the dirt. After I get done being all mad and wondering what to do next to survive, since, you know, the country has been driven into the dirt. But AFTER all that, I'll laugh. The cynical smart aleck side says so. ^^
No, I don't think it'll actually happen (I'm pretty sure it won't), but seeing this much celebration, after all the whining (yes, I call a lot of it whining (though not all of it)) from last round of elections (didn't see anyone move to canada after it was over :P) makes a very contrary side of me sit up, watch, and hope for something to be snide about.

I think I said I'd dig up that list of offenses I had noted down somewhere (some of the odder ones I noticed when error checking some stuff). Here they are:
Some odd offenses: Larceny of Dog Larceny of Pine Straw Unauth take/sale dairy case uttering counterfeit coin
Larceny of Pine Straw -> Felony Attempted breaking/entering -> Felony Breaking/entering -> misdemeanor (So apparently if you try and fail, that's worse than trying and succeeding!) Larceny of labeled dairy cases or milk crates bearing name/label of owner -> M Castration w/o Malice -> F Malicious castration -> F Criminal use of laser device (Pointing laser pointer/device at law enf officer/oth person) -> I Abduction of Married Woman -> F (Special case just for them)

So, recap: After 7 weeks of not posting; I live in Cary. whee. I work for the State. The State Justice System. Did you know that larceny of pinestraw is a crime? There are some other really odd ones too, but I don't think I have my list with me right now. I do programming type stuffs (fancy that!). Has anyone heard of the Administrative Office of the Courts? I'm part of the Technology Services Division (Technology Enablement team). Again, whee! Even if no one cares... >.>

For those who care: I am near center of the elderly upwards state. If you face off with the Fiend of Fire, I can be found in the right side, near the juncture of Home-that-has-recently-smoked-pot and Fire Fiend Car-stopped-from-moving/method-of-doing-things.
And it amuses me to think that of every one who actually does read this, I think nearly every one of them can figure out where I live (now). Eventually, anyway.
Drop me an e-mail if you do figure it out; I'm very curious to see how obtuse (or transparent) these clues actually are.

Assuming I saw it right, I'm pretty sure I spotted Amanda's picture on a billboard up near Galax, VA. She was in one of the mini-photos that were posted on the billboard. However, I only saw for a second, and didn't get a chance to go back and double check, so I'm not entirely sure.

I'm going through my computer, seeing why I only have 3 GB out of about 56 GB of space. It occurs to me "Well, I do have a lot of games, so lets do some uninstalls and see where that leaves me." So, I uninstall nearly all of the games currently on my system. I leave Diablo (don't want to risk screwing it up somehow), Diablo 2 (don't want to risk screwing up the mod I put on there; this mod is rather amusing and I like to play it from time to time. Surprisingly, this one takes about a little over 1 GB of space), Well of Souls (I don't want to lose the characters I've worked up, since its a rather boring process leveling them up again), and Warcraft II (similar to Diablo, I don't want to risk the install not working, since I can't really play it for some reason. Also, I don't want to lose the sound files that I have my computer use (Alleria, Danath, Turalyon, and Teron Gorefiend all have things to say at different times)). So, over an hour, about a dozen games, and 27 GB of hard drive space, I've cleared off nearly all my games. Yes, you read that right. 27 GB of space. That's more than the rest of my files combined.
Other statistics: -The remaining 4 games (plus Ultima Underworld and Civilization (the first one), neither of which take much space at all) use about 2 GB of space. -My music files take roughly 9 GB of space. I do still have a lot of stuff there I can probably get rid of and never miss (duplicate files, songs I don't actually like, etc.) -My various pictures take up maybe 1 GB (these previous three items comprise about half of the space still used) -I have several programs from Adobe (PhotoShop 7, Illustrator 10), a bunch of Macromedia stuff (like Dreamweaver), and Visual Basic 6 (a programming environment) that also take up space. -And everything else just keeps getting smaller in file size as I look at new things.
Now I'm going to run Adaware, Spybot, CCleaner (a wonderful tool for killing files that sit there and take up space, but aren't actually useful for anything. It can also really help clean up your registry of useless keys (like old file extensions for programs that aren't loaded anymore)), and disk defrag, and I'll tack an edit on to see how much stuff that gets rid of. I've run CCleaner once and it already killed another 500 MB of crap.
Anyway, now I'm curious. What's burning all the space on everyone else's harddrive?
Edit: So I've gotten down to 21.4 GB out of 55.8 GB, with a few more things gone, and cleared out a LOT of registry stuff from all those games and what not. I think I'll re-install WC3 and SC/BW, since the latest patch from blizzard allows them to be played without needing the cd anymore! :D But yeah, I think I'm going to re-install the games on an as-desired basis, instead of a mass install frenzy. >.>

Okay, so I was handed this jewel of a webcomic on a silver platter (courtesy of my sister's StumbleUpon). Its single panel, usually one line captions, and I love it. A lot of the captions are somewhat understated for the situation, which really increases my amusement value. Also, there's a lot of tongue in cheek humor. Have a look, and have a laugh.
A link to one of my current favorites (I'm slowly going through them).

On an unrelated note I'm (not?) a retard: I went shopping today and stopped at the GameStop next to wal-mart (thanks for making me get that discount card Abby -.-). Yeah, I walked away with twice as much merchandise as I spent at wal-mart. After discount.
Edit: Here's another one. http://www.thebookofbiff.com/2006/10/02/0119-lemon/

There are some things that just make you laugh. The Orks, in this case from the Dawn of War computer games, are one of them. Take this little section of cut scene for example:
Warboss Gorgutz: "And you know how I'm going to get Crull good and mad so he'll come after me?" Flunkie: "You're going to call 'im a grot?" Warboss Gorgutz: "We'll call that Plan: Stupid. I named it after you. If we attack iz Titan, he'll get mad and come after me...hey, why'z you grinnin'?" Flunkie: "Cause you named a plan after me!"
Yes, I totally booted the game up, just to watch that one little part again. ^^

Your Score: Multi-Faceted SoulYou scored -9 Extroversion, -5 Sensitivity, and 2 Openness!
In a way, you are a truly balanced person. You have a good sense of self, but you have periods of worry and self doubt. You don't like to be alone a lot, but you don't like being constantly surrounded, either. You can be shy in some situations and bold in others. You can tell people how you feel, but you don't wear your heart on your sleeve. You aren't "TOO" anything: You aren't too shy, you aren't too aggressive, you aren't too extroverted, you aren't too introverted. However at any one time you can be any combination of these things.
You tend to adapt yourself to match the situations in which you find yourself. You may be quiet and sensitive with some people, or joking and loud with others. These are all facets of your personality. People tend to perceive you as they want to perceive you. They may even tend to idealize you a bit. Then, when you do something that doesn't fit their concept of who you are (like have an outburst of anger, or a fit of shyness, or make an insensitive joke)they can be shocked and surprised. Does anyone know the real you?
Your daemon would represent your multi-faceted and ever-changing personality, as well as people's tendency to idealize you. He or she would get angry when you did not, be calm and poised when you felt ruffled and anxious, and always be the voice of emotion and reason in your ear.
Suggested forms: Swan, Elephant, Koala, Panda, Chameleon, Wolf.
=== This result sounded enough like me to actually get posted. I wonder who would agree with it? Also: AN ELEPHANT! YES! EAT THAT, WORKPLACE!
